Client side 802.1X Configuration on Windows
1.
Click on →Start→Run→type ‘services.msc’
press enter
*If you do not see the “Run” button, you can also open it by 'WINDOWS'+R
* you can also open Services.msc by typing it in the Search
bar of Windows Start Menu

Now navigate down the
Services window and find the following option
“Wired AutoConfig”
3.
Double Click on the option
Select the “Automatic” method from the “Startup Type”
dropdown menu. Click OK and then close the services window.
4.
Open Run menu by pressing WINDOWS+R, type ncpa.cpl.
press Enter.
5.
Select Properties of your
Local Area Network Connection and open the Authentication tab
6.
Select the “Enable IEEE 802.1X authentication” option
*if you use LAN at home then you can also
check the “Fallback to unauthorized network accesss” otherwise leave it
unchecked.
7.
Leave everything unchecked
in the “Settings” box. Authentication method should be
Secure Password (EAP-MSCHAP v 2)
8.
Click configure and make
sure that windows is not using your built-in username/password for
authentication.
9.
Close MSCHAP and EAP
properties.
10.
Click on “Additional
Settings” in the Connection Properties
11.
Check the following option
a.
Specify Authentication Mode
b.
From drop down menu select
“User Authentication”
c.
Click on Save Credentials
and enter your username and password.
12.
Save all windows and close
them.
